First got the magic bug when Mandrake visited Urlingfordin 1957 and Santa brought me a magic set that same year. The Boys Book of Magicfollowed the following year as a present from an aunt who was a librarian andmore books fuelled my growing interest.
Hormones took over in my mid-teens and I per suedother interests until my late twenties when I joined The Munster Society ofMagicians and The Society of Irish Magicians.
Besides these clubs I am now a Member of theInternational Brotherhood of Magicians Rings 85 and 363, The Magic Circle,Mystics in Dublin, I am also a Hon. Member of both The Ulster Society ofMagicians and of The West Lothian Society of Magicians in Scotland.
Most of my life in Magic has been as a dedicated amateurbut over the last fifteen years I have worked my magic as a Bar Magician, andas a Corporate Close-Up Magician.
One of my great passions in magic are books and I haveover the years amassed quite a substantial library. I treat all my books asfriends and indeed so many of the authors on my shelves have become closefriends over the years. While preferring books over other magical sources Istill have a good collection of DVDs but value them more for the performanceaspect than as a learning tool.
My hopes for the future of magic lies in the fostering of magic amongst our budding magicians and it is good to see thistaking place within our clubs.
This great journey through a lifetime of magic iswasted if we don’t help, encourage and inspire someone else to take the journeywith us so that they may one day pass on whatever gems of magic knowledge wehave polished and left in their care.
