SBM - Magic

Welcome to the official website of the Southern Brotherhood of Magicians, or the SBM for short. The SBM is a magic society based in the Cork/Kerry region of the south of Ireland. Although still just a fledgling club, the SBM is striving to form its own unique identity.The club by has already attracted world class magicins to perform and lecture, and the SBM is working hard to make club membership a rewarding experience for it's members. 

This site is designed to be an information resource for both club members and non club members. It's aim is to keep magicians informed of events that are happening locally, but also internationally. It is a way for the SBM to connect with the greater magic community worldwide, to provide information about the club for those interested in joining, and to allow those with an interest in the SBM to keep up to date on club activities. So again, welcome to the Southern Brotherhood of Magicians, we hope you all enjoy the site, and hopefully we'll get the chance to meet in person someday.

Here's an interesting concept that's worth looking into, it's the World's first online magic convention and the artists that will be contributing is pretty impressive. The line up includes Apollo Robbins, Gaetan Bloom, De'vo Vom Schattenreich, Ponta The Smith, Guy Hollingworth, Helder Guimarães, Max Maven, Lennart Green, etc., etc. Up to 30 of the world's leading magicians and thinkers are involved and here's what the organiser's have to say:-

Here's a video of Dan and Dave Buck from their appearance on the Discovery Channel's Time Warp programme. Here they feature some of their card handling abilities as well a demonstration of some impressive gambling tecniques.

Here's a new documentary on magic entitled 'A Magical Vision' from director Michael Caplan. The show focuses on the life and influence of the legendary magician Eugene Berger. It is an exploration of the deeper meanings of the art of magic, in essence it focuses on the magic and meaning behind the tricks themselves. During this hour long documentary, magicians are challenged to look at their art in a deeper and more meaningful way that harps back to the earlier days of magic, where magicians used their craft for more spiritual purposes. 

For those of you who ever dreamed of attending FISM now is your oppurtunity. Blackpool Magicians Club will be hosting the 2012 World Championships of Magic, FISM. This will be the most accessible FISM in years for Irish magicians so start making your plans now as this is an oppurtunity is not to be missed.

The official FISM 2012 website has been launched and it contains everything that you will need to know about the upcoming FISM championships in Blackpool in 2012. Registration is also now available and registration forms can be downloaded from the site. Registration prices are as follows:-

Our Tricks pages are now open and are broken into Cards, Coins, Close Up, and, Balloons and Kids Magic. The skill level of the tricks that you will find here are from beginner to intermediate level, if you want to learn the good stuff then you'll just have to come and join our club!!

There is a lot of exposure on the internet and we've taken advantage of that to bulid our tricks sections, however we will not contribute to it by hosting any explanations on public sites, explanations will only be hosted here. Also the tricks sections can only be accessed by site members so don't forget to sign in if you want to visit these pages.
